Sports Betting Teasers Explained
If you are keen to start placing your own sports bets, you need to make certain you have a good understanding of the different types of sports bets available. There is a substantial variety that can be played and in order to maximize your winning potential you need to develop a gaming strategy. In order to do so, you need to be able to decide which type of bet you want to go for and why. With this aim in mind, teaser bets – a common type of sports bet – are explained below.
Teasers are very similar to parlay bets in that you can choose to consolidate two or more bets together to make a teaser bet. However, there is also a distinct different between the two. Within a teaser the spreads can be altered in your favour, which then results in lowered payouts compared to parlay bets. All bets placed within a teaser bet need to be won in order for you to be paid out accordingly. This means than even of one bet is lost you will lose your entire teaser bet. A push or tie for three-team teasers or more results in winnings being lowered to the next available payout. A push on a two-team teaser will mean you get your money back.
When it comes to adjusting the point spread in your favor, this refers to either increasing or decreasing the spread depending on what you feel the outcome of the game is going to be. When you adjust your points spread this will affect bets you will have placed across different teams within the teaser. For example, if there is a point spread of -5 for one game and-8 for another and you want to go for a two-team 4-point teaser, then the odds for both games will be adjusted to -1 and -4 respectively. It is important to remember that teasers cannot be played on money line bets. This means that sports such as baseball are exempt from teaser bets as they are purely a money line sport.
These cover some of the basics when it comes to playing teasers. Make sure you have a thorough understanding of how this type of bet works before putting down any of your hard earned cash. Good luck and have fun!
